RVs move two ways. We do both.

Self propelled motorhomes, Class A diesel pushers, Class B vans, and Class C cabovers can move two ways. Driveaway means a licensed driver hops in and drives it to the destination. Tow away means it goes on the back of a wrecker or a flatbed. Each has tradeoffs.

Travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers go on hitches. That sounds easy until you find out the carrier needs the right ball, the right pin box height, the right brake controller, and a truck rated for the GVWR. Most brokers do not check. We check.

Whether you bought a Class A at a dealer in Indiana and need it in Florida, or you sold a fifth wheel in Texas to a buyer in Oregon, we get it there with the right driver, the right rig, and a real ETA. Snowbird seasons book up fast, lock early.

Why RV owners use Whipshipper

RV transport is its own thing. We treat it that way.

1

Driveaway or tow, your call

We quote both options when they make sense. Driveaway is faster and cheaper. Tow protects the powertrain and odometer.

2

Right driver for the rig

Class A driveaway needs a driver with a non CDL air brake endorsement in some states. We match the driver to the coach.

3

Travel trailer specialists

Bumper pull, fifth wheel, gooseneck. Right ball, right pin box, brake controller checked at pickup.

4

Toy hauler experience

Higher GVWR means a beefier truck. We size the tow rig to the trailer, not the other way around.

5

Snowbird routing

Northeast and Midwest to Florida and Arizona, October through April. We know the lanes, we know the schedule.

6

Insurance on the coach

Carrier cargo insurance with RV coverage included. You see the certificate before pickup.

Driveaway vs tow away

Both work. Here is when each makes more sense.

Driveaway

  • Licensed driver drives the coach to destination
  • Adds miles and hours to the odometer
  • Faster booking, often picks up next day
  • Lower cost than tow on most lanes
  • Best for newer coaches with proven powertrains
  • Includes a fuel surcharge in the quote

Tow away

  • Coach goes on a wrecker or flatbed, engine off
  • Zero miles and hours added
  • Better for high value, vintage, or non running coaches
  • Higher cost, slower carrier availability
  • Best for buyers who want delivery mileage at zero
  • Required for any coach that is not road legal at pickup

How RV transport works

Four steps from quote to delivery.

1

Quote with details

Tell us year, make, model, length, slide outs, and driveaway vs tow preference.

2

$99 deposit locks the rate

Lock the carrier rate. Balance on delivery, cash, card, or wire.

3

Pickup

1 to 5 day window for RVs, longer than cars because of driver availability. Live updates the whole time.

4

Delivery

Driver calls 2 hours out, walks the coach with you, signs the BOL. Done.

Prep your RV for pickup

Run this list the day before the carrier arrives.

  • 1Drain fresh, gray, and black water tanks
  • 2Empty fridge and freezer, leave doors propped open
  • 3Stow loose items in cabinets, latch every door
  • 4Disconnect propane at the tank, valve closed
  • 5Slide outs in, awnings rolled up and locked
  • 6Quarter tank of fuel in driveaway, less is fine for tow
  • 7Photograph every panel inside and outside, timestamp counts
  • 8Note tire pressure, all six or eight on a dually rear axle

RV transport rates

Driveaway averages. Tow runs higher. Big Class A and toy haulers run higher again.
